About a third of our members have an interest in creating Audio Visual presentations, with their themed photos accompanied by appropriate music and transition effects. They meet monthly to share ideas and support each other in a room at Paulton Rovers, and at least annually host an evening for all of us to view their work. This was one such occasion, and it was very well attended-a tribute to the fact that the rest of us know quality when we see it!
A few of us have had health issues over the winter months but most of these were there, with the exception of Lou Bailey, whose signature home-made cakes, (as well as herself), were sorely missed, despite the shop bought replacements. Let’s hope everyone can get out and about to enjoy this lovely spring weather soon.
Bill Collett, Janice Cuer and Jane Richardson all made excellent use of the photos taken on a very wet day at Sculptures by the Lakes last summer. Bill also illustrated the sculptures to be found at Buscot Park in Oxfordshire whilst Jane further entertained us with Chariots of Fire at the Bath Half Marathon, and reminded us of new beginnings in Spring as well as last Autumn’s colours at the abandoned locks at Combe Hay .
There was a zany, colourful, upbeat offering from Geoff Noad based on Rockaway Park, and a haunting piece that featured all things Infrared as well as a presentation featuring the November Frost Fayre in Glastonbury. Diana Walker picked up the “red” theme with her presentation of “Red Creatures” and the colours of Autumn at Westonbirt Arboretum , whilst also celebrating (yet another) visit to Slimbridge!
Jill Toman took us travelling to the Masai Mara, to Wales and of course to her home town of Dartmouth, where she herself is certainly no “Stranger on the Shore”! We were further treated to Suzanne Ladd’s inimitable take on rural Somerset’s Steam Fairs and the countryside around Dunster, and to the fruits of Janice’s visit to the sights of London and the annual Bridport Hats Festival.
It was a truly varied, enjoyable and relaxing way to spend an evening with friends.
That is what NRPS is best at!
