Spring is Round the Corner by Graham Nicholls
Graham takes the Witcombe Trophy in our Celebration Year.
The Annual Awards Dinner went down well!

The NRPS Annual Dinner and presentation evening took place at Old Down Inn on March 6th and was very well attended by members, many of whom brought partners to enjoy what is always a very sociable evening. The Picture of the Year awards have already been published, and the top three prints in each category were displayed throughout the evening, as the handsome trophies were distributed together with certificates. All was duly recorded in camera by Bill Collett, and his photos will shortly appear on our website, in an album created to celebrate the occasion.
Sadly, our Honorary President, Margot Witcombe, no longer feels able to attend events in person, but she had pronounced judgement on the digital images submitted by members competing for the Witcombe Trophy, and Graham Nicholls was the worthy winner with his favourite photo,“Spring is Round the Corner”. One entry from each member representing their favourite effort from 2024 had been required, and all these, together with the Pictures of the Year 2024/25 and winning entries for the “Letter R” competition, that took place in 2024, had been made into a presentation Photo Book to commemorate the Association’s 50th year which we celebrated throughout the 2024 /5 season. This was presented formally to Margot the following day, to her delight, and we know that it will get a good showing in her hands in the coming months.
The awards for those accruing the most points in the year as a result of their consistent successes in the club Mono and Colour Competitions were also made on the night and were as follows:
Mono: 3rd Place Jenny Short (40), 2nd Place Jill Toman (41) and Diana Walker took the shield in 1st Place with 43 points
Colour: 3rd Place Jill Toman (35), 2nd Place Diana Walker (40), with Jenny Short taking the 1st place again with 43 points.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening, with excellent food, and good company, very well organised, as ever, by Janice Cuer. Next week we meet at the Masonic Hall for the AGM, and this business meeting will be followed by a short presentation of new member, John Scaife’s images.
