Members get creative with Triptychs!

Now let's be clear about this .........

Outcomes of our Triptych competitions held by the club in recent years have always led us to consider subsequently exactly what we define as a Triptych based upon how members and the judge respond to the given, existing brief. This year was certainly no exception.

Judge, Paul Hendley is new to our club, and whilst he confessed to never having judged a Triptych competition before, he was thankfully willing to consider our many entries and said he had enjoyed doing so. Paul’s feedback was detailed, and he looked for images that together told a story, were well presented and processed and he commented helpfully on all of these.

The Colour section had a massive 37 entries which is encouraging, and results were as follows:
Commended: Pip Rabbitts, “Threads”, Jenny Short’s “Creature Features” Suzanne Ladd’s “Fallen” and David Bathard’s Garden Walkers
Highly Commended: John Scaife’s “Looking for Lunch and Solitude, and Pamela Bruce-Lockhart’s “Winter Snapshot”
3rd place went to Diana Walker with “Amur Tigers” 2nd placed was Bill Collett with his creative “Music Fest”. Pip Rabbitts was placed 1st with her equally creative “Big Cats.”

The Mono section attracted 23 entries in all.
Commended: Bill Collett with “Urban”, David Bathard with “Our Home S. Wales, 1950”
Highly Commended: Jill Toman “Taking Fish to Market”
Tony Nineham’s “ICM Birds” were in 3rd place. Pamela Bruce Lockhart’s “Falling leaves” were placed second. The overall winner was Jill Toman’s “Potter at Work” taken on our 50th anniversary trip to Muchelny Pottery

Regardless of any discussions that must now take place regarding the agreed, existing and future NRPS definitions of Triptychs and Composite images for Competition purposes, we should not detract from congratulating those achieving their successes above.

The elected Committee will c onsider the widely published, online, nationally accepted definitions of a Competition Triptych, and after due consultation with members NRPS will agree its expectations before the next Triptych Competition which will probably be late 2026 !
